WINE & CAMPANGE
Big, bold and spicy with jammy fruit and aromas of leather and black fruit.
A soft, supple wine with nice fruit flavours of plums and blackberries and occasionally mint, chocolate and eucalyptus flavours and aromas.
More assertive than Merlot, with more tannin and greater aging potential. It can have flavours of blackberries, plums, black currants, and cassis. Aged in oak, Cabernet Sauvignon can take on flavours of vanilla, cedar, chocolate, and coffee.
A delicate wine with tastes of red fruits like cherries, raspberries and strawberries. With age, flavours and aromas become more complex, developing earthy notes like mushrooms and decaying leaves.
This wine is high in both alcohol and tannins, intensely flavoured and deeply coloured. A certain bitterness is often found in Primitivo which, combined with its mouth-puckering tannins, means that it needs a few years in either bottle or barrel.
A star in Argentina, where it produces inky wines with an attractive smoke and leather quality.
A fresh, crisp, aromatic wine with grapefruit and grassy flavours.
A white grape that produces crisp, balanced wine that ages well. Chenin Blanc tends to taste of apples, pears and tropical fruits ranging from dry to semi-dry.
Can taste semi-sweet or sour, heady or light. Typical flavours are apple, tangerine, lemon, lime, melon, and oak. Usually dry
Typically light, crisp, fruity, and floral. They have a bit of a steely edge to their flavour.
Tends to have a straw colour and a neutral, mild aroma. It is very acidic. Its unassuming flavour is usually fruity, persistent, dry and balanced.
Typically dry (not sweet) and light, with a mineral taste to it. Richer in flavour, and often finish with a lemony or citrusy flavour.
Noted for spice, floral, citrus, apricot, apple and peach flavours. It typically produces medium bodied wines with relatively high acids and fruit.
With a common, aromatic base, frequently with herbal and mineral notes and underlying hints of flowers and fruit.
Soft, balanced and full of lovely pears and strawberries. A truly classy and sophisticated rosé that expresses its characteristic fruit flavours and demonstrates its flexibility.
